Children Therapy, Play Therapy

Does my child need Therapy?

Children go through emotional difficulties just as adults do, and just like adults, therapy helps them better understand themselves and process their emotions too. But one big difference? Their language isn’t using words like adults.

Their language is play.

Most kids, just like most adults, will benefit from being in therapy because we can all benefit from having a safe, private space to work through our emotions and process what we are experiencing. Sometimes, kids need that outside person to confide in, to help them better understand how they feel and what they need. Many times, the play therapist works to connect with the child to learn what they need in order to help parents/caregivers better meet the needs of their kids.

Signs Suggesting your Child may be Benefit from Counseling:

In our unique approach to counseling, we help families address their children’s emotional needs by working with children in one on one play therapy as well as conversations with parents/caregivers about the family environment. Often, families come in needing help with an anxious child or have a child dealing with behavioral problems. By working with the family as a whole, we can help caregivers better connect with their little ones. We get to know the individual temperaments of everyone in the family and all the factors that may be at play. We learn the needs of the child and the family as a whole so that we can help everyone work better together. By taking this holistic approach, we help children feel and behave better and caregivers feel more at ease.
